Skills Sets
Skills Sets
Skills Sets are a new way to recognise a particular ‘chunk’ of skills that do not make up a qualification. Some people find that they don’t need a full qualification at this stage of their career; others find that they need skills from across a number of qualifications. Skills Sets have been developed to meet the needs of these people.
Skills Sets are comprised of a group of units of competency to meet a clearly defined industry need. They are nationally recognised and provide formal recognition for those that require a flexible approach.
AIM is now offering the following nationally identified Skill Sets.
The Key Management Skill Set was developed to address the needs of people who were transitioning into management or supervisory roles. The units required for this skill set are:
• Workplace Leadership - Show leadership in the workplace, which addresses standards of conduct, skills required to work with teams and individuals, and taking the initiative to influence others
• Operational Plans - Implement operational plan, covers what is required to implement the operational plan monitoring and adjusting operational performance, producing short term plans for the department/section, planning and acquiring resources and providing reports on performance as required
• Team Effectiveness- Promote team effectiveness, involves developing team plans to meet expected outcomes, leading the work team, and proactively working with the management of the organisation
These units can all be credited towards the Certificate IV in Frontline Management. They are drawn from the core units of the Certificate IV, which means that anyone deciding to go on at a later stage to complete a Certificate IV in Frontline Management is well on their way.
The Enterprise Trainer Skill Set was designed to provide an introduction to basic workplace training techniques for those that train others in the workplace. This is a very practical program. Participants will have three opportunities to 'give it a go' and get valuable feedback on their training techniques. The units of this skill set are:
• Provide training through instruction and demonstration of work skills
• Make a presentation
